Questions people ask
What counts as rich in the world?
According to the World Inequality Database, an adult needs about $142,000 to be in the richest 10% of the world, and about $1.1 million to be in the top 1%. The typical (median) adult on Earth owns about $10,000.
Do you see or store my numbers?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Your amounts are never sent to us, and if you save a result it stays on your device.
Should I enter my own wealth or my household's?
Whatever is easiest. Just keep in mind that the official figures are per adult, so a total shared with a partner will make your rank look a little better than it really is.
Why don't you ask about debts?
To keep it quick and fun. The official figures subtract debts, so if you have a big mortgage or loans, your real rank is somewhat lower than the one we show.
